Fine Jewelry Wires

Hello!!! If you are here it is because you are in this beautiful world of Handmade Jewelry. I'm Oriana and I'm happy to explain to you what I know about fine wires.

I explain the main applications of jewelry wire, however depending on the combination you could give it other uses, it does not mean that I have the last word, your choices will be within the same framework of your creativity. That is to say, the applications that wiring has are as versatile as the ideas you have in your mind. Between them:

  • Make hooks for necklaces and bracelets
  • Make rings of various sizes
  • Make bases for circular earrings and bracelets of various shapes
  • Make settings

Among the practices that I give to the wires are:

  • To make twists: 24g 26g 28g
  • To make brooches or hooks: 18g-20g
  • To make complex loops like rosary knots: 22g-24g
  • To make hoops: 18g-20g
  • To make dream catchers 26g 28g 30g

If you give it other uses, you could tell me so we can teach more people.

Now I will leave you a table to show you the thicknesses of the wires

This table is a guide to convert measurements to millimeters

Keep in mind that we have all the wires in Stock for you

The caliber issue is important, the caliber/gauge will be expressed in the AWG system (mainly used in the USA) or the SWG (mainly used in Europe). Depending on where the brand is, the wire will come with the measurements of one system or another.

I explain the AWG system to you because it is the one I use in each of my designs and I also market them. These gauges come from #14 to #30, while the gauge number is larger, the diameter is smaller and vice versa.
